Despite the Pittsburgh winter being fairly mild, it’s always good to remind you that in the event of bad weather on a Sunday morning, there are several ways to find out if church is cancelled. You may check this website, our Facebook or Twitter pages. Or you can tune into KDKA-AM (1020), KDKA-TV (2), WTAE-TV (4), WPXI-TV (11), and their respective websites for the information. (Look for Christ Episcopal Church, North Hills.)

Coming up this Sunday, representatives from Calvary Camp will be on hand after the 10:00 service to answer any and all questions about summer camp sessions. The Youth Group will host the coffee hour in the undercroft.

The Fourth Sunday after the Epiphany
Annual Meeting Sunday

The last Sunday of January is typically our day for the Annual Parish Meeting and this year is no different. It’s an opportunity for all members to get a sense of what is going on in the parish, to learn about the new budget for the year and to review the events of the last year. Our schedule changes for this Sunday, so please take note.

Our Schedule

9:00 a.m. - Holy Eucharist Rite II
9:00 a.m. - Sunday School
10:30 a.m. - Annual Parish Meeting

Coffee and other refreshments will be available during the meeting. Childcare will continue through the meeting for youngsters up to Grade 3.

With a weekend of weather that looks a little more like “winter”, it’s a good time to remind you that should inclement weather hit on a Sunday morning, look for our cancellation notices on the following stations – KDKA-AM (1020), KDKA-TV (2), WTAE-TV (4) or WPXI-TV (11) or their respective websites. We will also work feverishly to make sure the information is posted here at ChristChurchNorthHills.org and our Facebook and Twitter pages.  However, all of the aforementioned radio and TV stations and the National Weather Service suggest that inclement weather will have passed and the milder temperatures should be back in time for church Sunday morning.

Also this Sunday, a preliminary draft of the 2011 Annual Report will be made available. Final Drafts will be made available throughout the coming week in advance of the Annual Meeting on Sunday, January 29. Speaking of the Annual Meeting, our schedule for that Sunday will change slightly for the 29th. There will be ONE service at 9:00 a.m. with the Annual Meeting immediately following.

Finally, we announced last week that a preliminary slate of candidates for the 8th Bishop Diocesan has been released. The webpage has been updated to include the biographies of the candidates.

You can read about the four candidates by clicking here.

Things to note for this Sunday: The Rite-13 Liturgy will take place during the 10:00 service. This is a “moving-up” ceremony for our young people who will move up from Rite-13 into their J2A Confirmation class. Also, this will be the first Sunday that you may begin ordering citrus for the North Hills Community Outreach’s annual citrus sale fundraiser. Order forms will be available with your bulletin and The Little Link. It is also the first Sunday to sign up for The Women’s Retreat being held March 2, 3 & 4.
