The Seventh Sunday of Easter
Ascension Sunday

This week marks the last Sunday for the official program year. We will honor our Sunday School teachers for all of their hard work and dedication to the program over the last year. We will also honor our high school seniors as they prepare to move out into the world. There will be a picnic on the patio with burgers and hot dogs to celebrate.

In the evening, we will have our final Evensong for the year (moved from the second Sunday).

Our schedule:

8:00 a.m. - Holy Eucharist Rite I
9:00 a.m. - Coffee & Fellowship (Narthex)
10:00 a.m. - Holy Eucharist Rite II, Honoring of Teachers and High School Seniors
11:30 a.m. - Celebration Picnic on the Patio
6:30 p.m. - Choral Evensong

With June rapidly approaching, it’s time to announce the return of the Summer Thursday Garden Eucharists. The service will begin on Thursday, June 7 at 6:30 p.m. and run every Thursday evening through July 26. It’s a great service for those who go away for the summer weekends and it is held (weather permitting) in the beauty of our Memorial Garden. Bring your lawn chair and bring your friends to this informal Eucharist.

The Fifth Sunday of Easter

It may be the Fifth Sunday of Easter, but it’s also the Sunday before Rummage Sale! Beginning after church and continuing throughout the week, workers will be busy sorting, folding, testing, pricing, etc. donations for the Rummage Sale which will be held next Friday, May 11 from 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, May 12 from 9:00 a.m. – Noon!

Meanwhile, church still goes on this Sunday…

The Third Sunday of Easter

It as an exciting weekend in the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh! Saturday, April 21 is the election for our new Bishop Diocesan. Look for up-to-the-minute updates on the diocesan website and await the official announcement!

This Sunday, Christ Church will have a guest preacher: The Rev. Canon Wes Wubbenhorst. Canon Wubbenhorst is the Canon for Youth in the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland. One of his many duties is coordinating and assisting his diocese’s Hispanic Mission as well as overseeing an exchange program with the Diocese of Honduras.

Canon Wubbenhorst will also be available in the early afternoon to meet with people from throughout our Diocese who are interested in the possibilities of a mission trip to Honduras in 2013.

What a glorious Easter weekend we had last week. The Easter Vigil, the Sunrise Eucharist and the two Festival Eucharists were all magnificent and celebratory!

This week we return to a normal schedule, but the celebration continues!

Rummage Sale dates announced

The annual Christ Church Rummage Sale will take place on Friday, May 11 (9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.) and Saturday, May 12 (9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.).

The sale includes unwanted treasures, clothing, antiques, a bake sale and much more! You won’t want to miss it!

For those who are contributing items to the sale:

Please make sure your items are relatively clean.
We ask that you presort your rummage and place it on the table with the designated category – Sports, Music/Books/Games, Household, Women’s Clothing, Men’s Clothing, Children (including toys and clothes), and Miscellaneous.
Please try to wait to bring larger items until during the week of the sale when there will be assistance to bring it in.

Holy Saturday

8:00 p.m. - THE GREAT VIGIL OF EASTER, HOLY EUCHARIST & BAPTISM

The service begins in candlelight as the Light of Christ slowly returns with the initial lighting of the Paschal Candle. Scripture and psalms will be read and the Sacrament of Baptism will be administered. The full light of Christ returns and the service will continue with a celebratory Eucharist. Music will be presented by the Chamber Choir.

The Sunday of the Resurrection/Easter Day

6:00 a.m. - SUNRISE EUCHARIST

The Service of the Word will be read inside before going outside to the Memorial Garden for the Eucharist weather permitting.

8:30 a.m. - CHORAL FESTIVAL EUCHARIST
11:00 a.m. - CHORAL FESTIVAL EUCHARIST

Festival worship with readings and music led by the Chancel Choir.

12:15 p.m. - EASTER EGG HUNT

The Youth Group invites the children outside to search for Easter Eggs on the lawn. Children will be organized into teams to make the hunt a little more exciting.
