ALZHEIMER’S SUPPORT GROUP
Leader: Karen Schaeffer
A community Alzheimer’s Support Group meets in the church library on the second Saturday of the month from 10:00 - 11:30 a.m. The group is affiliated with the Greater Pennsylvania Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. All family members who are coping with Alzheimer’s disease and related memory disorders are welcome to attend. The goal of the Alzheimer’s Association affiliated support groups is to provide families with updated information, emotional support, and problem solving in the challenges of the caregiving. Each group meets at regularly established times with a trained facilitator leading the meeting.
PRAYERS AT THE ALTAR
Each Sunday, after the service, a member of the clergy remains near the altar to offer an opportunity for those who desire prayers to come forward and receive prayer.
STEPHEN MINISTRY
The Stephen Ministry is a national, ecumenical, lay ministry program that is designed to empower parishioners to become pastoral caregivers for each other. Members of the Stephen Ministry have taken a twenty-three week training program to prepare them for long term pastoral needs. This parish has many gifted lay caregivers who already exercise an effective ministry. The Stephen Ministry program is designed to enhance the existing pastoral care provided by the members and the clergy of the parish.
