Story Time with Santa
On Thursday, December 4, from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m, Santa Claus will visit the children in the Undercroft to share some hot cocoa and treats and even a story or two. This is a much-anticipated annual event sponsored by the Soul Sisters.
Polar Express Retreat
On Saturday, December 6, 2008 all 4th & 5th Graders are invited to take a ride on “The Polar Express” from 4:30 - 9:30 p.m. at Christ Church. The “train” departs a little after 4:30 p.m. at which time we will watch the movie. Throughout the trip we will make several brief “stops” to do fun crafts, drink hot cocoa and enjoy a warm meal together. Wear your PJs, bring your sleeping bags, pillows, a favorite stuffed animal and even your best friend!
Advent Service of Lessons & Carols
On Sunday, December 7 a Service of Advent Lessons and Carols will be held at 10:00 a.m.. The service includes several readings, anthems and The Holy Eucharist.
Advent Brunch
Please join your parish family on Sunday, December 7 for the 6th Annual Advent Brunch. The brunch will be held immediately after the 10:00 a.m. service from 11:30 - 12:30 in the undercroft. All are welcome and there is no cost to attend. We do, however, ask that you contribute a food item to share. For more
Christmas Pageant
The Annual Christ Church Christmas Pageant will be held Sunday, December 21 at the 10:00 a.m. service. This year’s pageant is “Good News of Great Joy” directed by David Dix. The pageant is open to all children. For more information - 412-364-2442.
The Great Episcopal Family Christmas Caroling Event
The 2nd annual Great Episcopal Family Christmas Caroling Event will be held on Sunday, December 21 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.. Everyone is welcome. We will meet at Christ Church at 6:00 and rehearse some carols before we “take our show on the road” around Chapel Drive. There more the merrier! Then stay for hot cocoa and treats in the Undercroft.
Christmas Eve/Day Service Schedule
On Wednesday evening, December 24, the Christmas Eve Services are at 5:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. with a Choral Prelude at 10:30 p.m.
On Thursday, December 25 there will be a service of Holy Eucharist at 10:00 a.m..
Baptisms
The sacrament of Baptism is normally administered at five times throughout the church year: Easter Vigil, Pentecost, The Transfiguration, All Saints’ and on the Baptism of Our Lord. The next scheduled Baptism is on January 11, 2009 - The First Sunday after The Epiphany. Please contact Canon Jim at 412-364-2442 for additional information.
Annual Meeting Sunday
The Annual Meeting will be held on January 25, 2009 There will be one service at 9:00 a.m. and the meeting will be held immediately following in the Undercroft. The annual report for 2008 and the budget for 2009 will be presented. New vestry members will be elected. Come and learn more about what it takes to make Christ Church run from day to day. Nursery care will continue throughout the meeting, and childcare for preschool through Grade 3 will be provided on the second floor of the Education Building. God & Me Scouts Program & Scout Sunday
In January & February Valerie Tardiff will lead children in grades 1, 2 & 3 to qualify for the God & Me scouting emblem. The children will meet Wednesday evenings, January 14, 21, 28, February 4 & 11 from 6:30 - 7:45. All will be recognized in church on Scout Sunday, February 1, 2009.
Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper
A pre-Lenten tradition at Christ Church, this year’s pancake supper will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the Undercroft. Sponsored by the teens, it will feature all-you-can-eat fluffy pancakes, ham, potatoes and applesauce.

Women’s Retreat Friday, February 27 to Sunday, March 1, 2009
Once a year the ECW (Episcopal Church Women) holds a Women’s Retreat. Each year features a different topic or theme with guest speakers, small group discussions and free time for fellowship and contemplation. This year Mary Ann Nichols, Director of The Spiritan Center in Bethel Park where the weekend is held, presents “Women & Their Gifts”. Look for sign-ups coming soon.
